Le Barthélemy Celebrates its new Green Globe Certification

At Le Barthélemy, our commitment to the beautiful island we call home is a flagship and an inspiration, day in, day out – through partnerships and programs such as the one we proudly have built with Coral Restoration, we make sure to give back and keep St. Barts thriving, protecting the environment and nurturing it into being as breathtaking as it is today, and even more so.
By sponsoring local communities and events such as the French West Indies soccer team, or the LuisaViaRoma gala last year, we stay close to where our heart is – with the people, lending a helping hand and extending an invitation for both international visitors and next-door neighbors to take on Le Barth as a home and a friend.
It’s been our constant mission and our unwavering resolution, time after time, to give back as much as we can, and to make of this planet a bit better, one green effort at a time.
And it has all been noted and celebrated all around.
We are delighted to share with all of you that we have received the Green Globe Certification, comprising 380 criteria linked to respect for the environment, economy, social life on the island, and the preservation of cultural heritage. This certification reinforces our determination to pursue our efforts to offer those who will come after the same opportunities and wonders we found – and then some, if it is within ourselves to do so.
Through four of our Sustainable Commitments, we celebrate this huge honor and promise to always be deserving of such a title.
Meet the STEP
Thanks to our Wastewater Treatment and Purification Plant, also known as STEP, as per its name in French, we collect 100% of our gray water, which is then treated and purified by an entirely natural process using state-of-the-art technology available on the island.
This allows us to make even better use of it, and maintain our abundant gardens healthy, colorful, and always properly moist – local flora, sheltered and enhanced by being preserved in a controlled environment, entirely sustainable through the use of re-purposed and processed gray water, turned fresh once again.
Green Energy Everywhere
Our bountiful amount of solar panels –we have over 30 of them!– properly set on the roof at Le Barthélemy allow for the total of the water consumed at the hotel to be heated during the day, thus reducing our emissions and keeping our energy demand within a controlled range, clean, and always up-and-running.
Solar panels are just some of the options we have considered in our pursuit of a greener, sustainable way of working – electric transportation, automatic lights, and a well-rounded architectural style to make the most out of natural light are some of our green commitments, too.
Avant-garde Water Production
Thanks to Aquachiara technology, we produce up to 200 liters of drinking water per day, available in our restaurants to grant a meal as delicious as it is impactful in a positive, constructive way – additional to our Zero Waste philosophy and carefully designed natural menus, making the most out of fresh ingredients found on the island, of course!
Our collaborators also have access to a drinking water fountain that presents itself as an engineering feat by collecting water droplets naturally present in the clean air and generating up to 200 liters of drinking water per day.
The B. Green Team
Every month, our 6 representatives from the B. Green Team work hard to support our eco-responsible commitments – promoting innovation, inspiration, and positive action in favor of environmental sustainability and human well-being.
We find ourselves extremely touched and deeply honored to have been granted the Green Globe Certification, and promise to keep working hard to create a better future for all.
